Using a Comparison and Contrast Technique to Teach Writing

Using a Comparison and Contrast Technique to Teach WritingComparing and contrasting is a simple technique that is used in all forms of teaching. It has been around for many centuries and has been adopted as a teaching tool in every discipline. People will be introduced to it as soon as they are given a choice of books to read. The only real difference is the format, the length and how much effort is put into the process. When reading a book, one is not going to find an essay sample. Instead, they will have to look at the description of the book. They will most likely be given the option of an essay on a particular subject. This essay is going to have to deal with the particular topic of the book. It is only then that the reader will find the essay sample at the back of the book.In science there is a common example of the same method being applied. In most biology textbooks, when studying the life of a particular organism, the organism is described in relation to some other organism. T his is done by a comparison and contrast technique. One will find many examples of this technique being used in relation to human beings. Consider a new student who is just starting their course. They are in for a shock as they will be expected to write about someone who is as important as they are.It is in this person's best interests to write about someone who is as influential as they are as this will increase their chances of getting the assignment. It is these ways of thinking that make it possible for the teacher to compare and contrast. The first few months of a student's course can be quite a difficult task for the teacher. He has to rely on research in order to come up with a way of teaching. The more he compares and contrasts, the more he will find in his research to use to explain certain points. For example, if they are using a medical research project to explain a point in their course, they will find that they will need to consider a number of points in order to get acro ss the main points. When people are forced to read between the lines, they will find the instructor to be successful.
